A contemplação no ensino de São Tomás

O presente artigo visa apresentar o conceito de contemplação nos escritos de São Tomás de Aquino, limitando-se a analisar o papel que desempenhou a vida contemplativa na pregação e no ensino do Aquinate. Primeiramente trataremos da etimologia da palavra contemplação, bem como algumas de suas definições. Em seguida abordaremos sinteticamente a relação entre o agir e o contemplar em São Tomás, ressaltando a importância da contemplação como elemento vivificador de seu magistério. Também se farão gravitar em torno desse tema, autores do passado e do presente, à medida que se fizerem necessários para a melhor compreensão dessa temática no ensinamento do Doutor Angélico. /// The present article wishes to analyze the concept of contemplation in the writings of St. Thomas Aquinas, limiting itself to the function played by contemplative life in the Aquinate’s teaching and preaching. It will first deal with the etymology of the word contemplation including some of its definitions. It will be followed by a résumé of the relationship between the action and the contemplation in Saint Thomas, underlining the importance of the contemplation as a vivifying element of his Magisterium. When necessary, for a better understanding of this theme, different authors of the past and present times will be presented gravitating around the teachings of the Angelic Doctor.
