Em Tomás de Aquino, descobrir o significado da História nos sentidos da Escritura

Resumen

João Paulo II, referindo-se às tarefas atuais da teologia, afirmou a necessidade de
investigar a verdade profunda e genuína que os textos bíblicos querem comunicar e
que adquirem a sua plena explicitação na leitura perene feita ao longo dos séculos
(Fides et Ratio, 94). Este estudo pretende dar resposta, em parte, a este desafio.
A metodologia consistiu na análise de toda a obra de Tomás de Aquino e da
bibliografia correspondente. A teoria exegética dos sentidos da Sagrada Escritura,
muito usada no período medieval, apresenta características e formulações de grande
interesse para desvendar o sentido da História. O sentido literal e o espiritual, nas
suas três dimensões significativas: alegórica, moral e anagógica, transmitem uma
visão da História centrada em Cristo e orientada para o futuro definitivo. //

Referring to the current ta sks of theology, John Paul II affirmed the need to
investigate the profound and genuine truth that biblical texts seek to communicate,
which acquire their full significance in the perennial appraisal made throughout the
centuries (Fides et Ratio, 94). This study aims to respond in part to this challenge.
The methodology consists of an analysis of the entire work of St. Thomas and its
corresponding bibliography. The exegetical theory of the senses of Sacred Scripture,
widely used in the medieval period, presents characteristics and formulations of
great interest to unveil the meaning of history. The literal sense and spiritual sense,
in three significant dimensions – allegorical, moral and anagogical – convey a vision
of History centered on Christ and oriented towards the definitive future.
