The strength of a lighthouse, of a bridge or of any large structure cannot only be evaluated by its foundations or by the type of concrete used in building it, but also by its resistance to the forces of nature and by the wear of time. The same could be said for the strength of the Catholic Church. Her strength is not only demonstrated by her divine founder, Jesus Christ, the second Person of the Holy Trinity, but also by the fidelity of the successors of the Apostles to the doctrine taught by Christ against heretics, by the fortitude of the martyrs in the face of pagan persecution, by the virginity and by the holy lives of religious, over a span of two millennia, not just decades or centuries, until the end of time. This strength becomes even more evident upon witnessing the Church emerge with renewed fortitude after each persecution. [...]
