A santidade do sacerdote, à luz de São Tomás de Aquino

Este artigo, elaborado especialmente no âmbito do Ano Sacerdotal, considera a perfeição a que deve tender o sacerdote a fim de tornar o seu ministério mais eficaz e fecundo, à luz do perene ensinamento de São Tomás de Aquino. Trata sobre a importância da docilidade ao impulso e direção do Espírito Santo no exercício do ministério, a fim de que o presbítero se torne imagem e modelo para os fiéis. Apresenta ainda a Eucaristia enquanto fonte de santidade sacerdotal e conclui com alguns pontos importantes de documentos recentes do Magistério Pontifício a esse respeito. /// This article, developed within the context of the Year for Priests, draws on the perennial teaching of Saint Thomas Aquinas to consider the perfection toward which the priest should strive in order to make his ministry more efficacious and fruitful. It deals with the importance of docility to the impulse and direction of the Holy Spirit in the exercise of the ministry, so that the priest may become an image and model for the faithful. It also presents the Eucharist as the source of priestly holiness and concludes with some important points from recent documents of the Pontifical Magisterium in this regard.
