O Sacerdócio e a Eucaristia

Resumo

Este artigo abordará o tema Cristo-Sacerdote, a partir da análise da Carta aos Hebreus, que se centra no salmo 109 – salmo messiânico por excelência –, ao trazer a fundamentação da mediação sacerdotal de Cristo. O sacerdócio de Cristo é único e original, diferente do que havia entre os judeus e em outras religiões; só Ele é, ao mesmo tempo, sacerdote e vítima imolada para nossa salvação. Enquanto membros da Igreja, corpo de Cristo-Sacerdote, todos os batizados participam do sacerdócio de Cristo, oferecendo a Deus um sacrifício espiritual. A Liturgia é a ação de Cristo- Sacerdote na Igreja; através dela, Ele não só permanece conosco, mas se dá a nós na Eucaristia, o dom por excelência.

This article addresses the topic of Christ the Priest, based on an analysis of the Letter to the Hebrews, which focuses on psalm 109 – the messianic psalm par excellence –, providing the basis for Christ’s priestly mediation. Christ’s priesthood is unique and original, different from that of the Jews and other religions; He alone is both Priest and Victim immolated for our salvation. As members of the Church - the body of Christ the Priest - all the baptized share in His priesthood, offering God a spiritual sacrifice. The Liturgy is the action of Christ the Priest in the Church; through it, He not only remains with us, but He gives Himself to us in the Eucharist, the gift par excellence.
