A razoabilidade da fé: São Tomás e a Escolástica

Resumo

Neste artigo pretende-se lançar um olhar analítico sobre o papel do movimento escolástico, e em especial do Doutor Angélico, na elaboração da síntese entre fé e razão, por vezes tão negada em certos meios intelectuais, e que, no entanto, tende a ser reencontrada novamente, como se verifica pelo testemunho de eminentes cientistas. Destaca-se a harmonia entre a filosofia e a teologia, lograda na época das “Universitas” medievais, como ciências que, longe de se excluírem, movem o espírito humano à procura da única fonte de Verdade, Deus, num consenso pleno. E se bem a fé possua um papel preponderante e experimental, no seu ensejo de compreender, sonda o mistério inesgotável com a luz natural da razão. /// In this article we intend to cast an analytical glance upon the scholastic movement, especially that of the Angelic Doctor, in the elaboration of the synthesis between faith and reason, often denied in certain inte lectual circles, but which meanwhile is regaining acceptance, as is confirmed by the testimony of eminent scientists. We identify the harmony achieved between philosophy and theology, in the epoch of the medieval “Universitas”, as being sciences that, far from excluding one another, both move the human spirit to procure the one source of Truth; God, in a full consensus. And although faith plays a preponderant and experiential role in the endeavor to understand, the unfathomable mystery is also sounded by the natural light of reason.
