La tibieza espiritual y sus consecuencias. Una aproximación exegética a Ap 3,14-22

Sin duda, el estado de tibieza es un gran obstáculo para el progreso en la vida espiritual. Ella trae consigo otros defectos, como la mediocridad y la falta de generosidad. Quien así se encuentra no desea —incluso inconscientemente— alcanzar la perfección cristiana. Se conforma con su situación actual, creyendo ser suficiente para obtener la salvación eterna. Así se encontraba la comunidad de Laodicea, como lo deja ver el autor del Apocalipsis. Pero la censura que reciben los laodicenses puede aplicarse a todo aquel que esté en situación espiritual semejante. Por otro lado, la carta dirigida a esta iglesia es útil a todo cristiano que realmente desea progresar en el camino de perfección. En el presente artículo intentaremos mostrar, junto con la exegesis propuesta, cuáles son las consecuencias espirituales que lleva consigo el estado de tibieza en el ser humano. /// Without doubt, the state of spiritual tepidity is a great obstacle to progress in the spiritual life. Such a state also brings along other defects, such as mediocrity and lack of generosity. Those in this state do not desire — even unconsciously — to achieve Christian perfection. They are satisfied with the current situation, believing it sufficient to obtain eternal salvation. The community of Laodicea was in this state, as the author of the Book of Revelation makes known. But, the censure received by the community in Laodicea is applicable to anyone who is in such a spiritual condition. Furthermore, the letter to this church is useful to every Christian who really wants to progress along the path of perfection. In this article we shall aim to show, together with an exegetical commentary, the spiritual consequences that follow from the state of spiritual tepidity in human beings.
